Aisha Yesufu, Others, Berates President Buhari For Not Sending Birthday Wishes To Atiku Abubakar On His 71st Birthday

Is President Muhammadu Buhari petty? Oh well, his failure to send birthday wishes to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has angered some Nigerians.

The Waziri of Adamawa marked his 71st birthday on Saturday, November 26, twenty-four hours after announcing his resignation from the APC.

Although not binding on the president constitutionally, it has been the tradition of Nigerian presidents to send birthday wishes to prominent political figures and former public office holders inspite of political differences.

President Buhari was silent on Atiku's 71st birthday, prompting many to describe his action as ''childish and petty.'' He also didn't wish a serving Governor, Ayodele Peter Fayose, happy birthday.

Bring Back our Girls co-founder, Aisha Yeseufu, was the first to fire the salvo, condemning the presidents action.
Yesufu, a social activist and public commentator, took to her Twitter page on Saturday, November 25, to criticize the presidency.
Her stance also got the support of many others, who berated the president for not sending the birthday wishes to his former political ally.
Some Nigerians however chided Yesufu for the tweet, insisting that sending birthday wishes is not binding on the president constitutionally and it is at his discretion.
