The NGO Bill Is Evil, It Will Cripple Churches, Mosques -Fani-Kayode ¦ I'll Will Oppose The Bill -Senator Shehu Sani

The very outspoken former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has warned Nigerians against the new bill to regulate Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) activities in Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode, in a tweet, warned that the bill would cripple Nigerians churches and mosques if it is allowed to be passed into law,

He tweeted: "The NGO Bill is evil. It will cripple churches, mosques and all NGOs and bring them under govt control. I advise Nigerians to resist it."
In the same light, Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna senatorial district kicked against the bill with a vow to oppose it.

Sani, on his Twitter page, wrote: "The bill on NGOs will reinforce those with tyrannical tendencies and further stifle rights to freedom of speech and assembly, I'll oppose it."
Meanwhile, the sponsor of the non-governmental organisation (NGO) regulation bill, Umar Jibril, has accused some NGOs of using donated funds to support the activities of terrorists and insurgents.

The lawmaker made the accusation on Friday, September 22, when dismissing suggestions that the proposed NGO bill could affect religious bodies and humanitarian agencies in the Nigeria.

Jibril, who is the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives in a statement said the bill is aimed at ensuring that there is transparency and accountability in the way and manner NGOs collect funds.
