48Years Old Sex Offender Accused Of Peeping Into Teen Girl’s Bedroom (Pic)

A convicted sex offender is accused of peeping into a local girl’s bedroom as she slept.

Folarin Akinyode, 48, was arrested in Newport over the weekend, 2½ weeks after a Pawtucket girl woke up to find a man who looked like him staring at her through her open bedroom window.

The girl told police that the stranger looked her in the eyes and then ran down Windmill Street, while she ran to wake her father, according to a police report. Later that morning, on Aug. 16, the girl told police that she looked at the Rhode Island sex offender website and noticed that Akinyode’s mugshot looked like the man outside her window.
Akinyode is listed as a Level 3 sex offender, deemed most likely to re-offend, from pleading no contest to a charge of possessing child pornography last year. At the time, he was released on probation through May 2021 and ordered into a sex-offender treatment program

Officer Douglas Harrington went looking for Akinyode at his registered address on 359 Smithfield Ave., but he wasn’t there. Police found him in Newport on Saturday and brought him back to face charges.

Akinyode was arraigned on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge for peeping at District Court on Tuesday and ordered held at the Adult Correctional Institutions as a violator of his probation.
