Bribery Allegation: Fayose's Aide Blasts IGP, Says, 'The Police Is Foolish For Declaring A Senator Wanted, When They Are Still Guarding Him'

The Special Adviser to Governor Ayodele Peter Fayose of Ekiti State on New Media, Lere Olayinka, has bashed the Nigerian Police Force, whom he described as being foolish, for declaring a senator wanted.

Olayinka made this comment in reaction to recent claims by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, that Senator Isah Hamma Misau, Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, is a deserter.

IGP Idris has been at logger-heads with Senator Misau, following the latter's claim that police officers like Commissioners of Police, State Mobile Commanders and Special Protection Units (SPU) Commanders paid huge sums of money – from N10m to N15m- to secure favorable postings.

According to the senator, these monies were remitted to the IGP, whom he claimed also received N10bn monthly from oil companies and other private individuals who were specially protected by the police.

In response, the Force declared Misau wanted, claiming that he did not retire from the security agency when he contested for a seat in the Senate.

However, Olayinka faulted the actions of the Force, advising the IGP to stop advertising the foolishness of the security agency, as he stated that a man cannot be declared wanted when he still has policemen guarding him.
