Abuja High Court Stops Senator Dino Melaye's Recall

An Abuja high court has stopped the recall of the senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye who is battling a recall crises in Kogi state.
The senator made this known in a tweet on his twitter handle.

The saga over the recall of Senator Dino Melaye gains momentum, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that the only thing that can stop the recall as demanded by the constituents of Kogi West, is a legitimate court order.

This was disclosed to newsmen in Abuja by Rotimi Oyekanmi, the chief press secretary to the INEC chairman, TheNation reports.

Senator Dino Melaye called on Nigerian Senate to intervene and stop alleged moves by the Kogi state government to recall him from the red chamber.

The senator representing Kogi west made the call on Tuesday, July 4, during plenary on the floor of the Senate.

Consequently, Ekweremadu noted that the recall process of Melaye by the Kogi state government is an exercise in futility, stating that there are provisions and procedures to be followed on how recall process is carried out. Ekweremadu said Section 69 of the constitution is the reason Senator Dino Melaye cannot be recalled.
