President-elect Donald J. Trump announced Monday that Jared Kushner will serve as Senior Advisor to the President.

''It is an honor to serve our country.'' Kushner said in a statement. ''I am energized by the shared passion of the President-elect and the American people and I am humbled by the opportunity to join this very talented team.''

Jared Kushner, a real estate developer, is married to Ivanka Trump and has been considered a close adviser to Trump during his campaign and transition.

''Jared has been a tremendous asset and trusted advisor throughout the campaign and transition and I am proud to have him in a key leadership role in my administration.'' Trump said in a statement.

''He has been incredibly successful, in both business and now politics. He will be an invaluable member of my team as I set and execute an ambitious agenda, putting the American people first.''

In a sign that he was planning to take a position in the new administration, Kushner has been taking steps to distance himself from his sprawling New York real estate business.

*Hehehehe.. It's a family 'business'.. America, what have you done?*
