The late Ikemba of Nnewi, Sir Louis Odumegwu-Ojukwu's WILL has been greeted with a lot of controversies. The Warlord had directed in his WILL that Bianca Ojukwu (his wife) should replace him as a Director or as a Trustee of OTL, but his children have rejected the instruction, stating that the WILL has been tempered with.
According to Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu,.."Bianca has no place as a Director of the company, stating that, no woman can be a Director in Ojukwu Transport Company, adding that no public office holder can be appointed as a Director in the company and Bianca happens to be an Ambassador, thereby making her double disqualified". He went further to say that, he knows where the original WILL is and that the one read by Barr. Onyemelukwe was edited. He claimed not knowing Onyemelukwe as his father's lawyer, but that he is Bianca's friend and lawyer. Speaking on his ownership of his father's country home in Nnewi, Chukwuemeka stated that by Igbo tradition, he owns his father's house, being the first son, whether or not the said property was willed to him or not.
On Director Ifeukwu Ojukwu's part, he stated that since OTL was owned by the late Biafran Warlord, he can not dictate who the Trustees or Directors of the company should be, he further stated that,.."Bianca is neither a Trustee Member nor a Director of OTL and it is good to note that OTL is a different property from the things the late Ikemba had and Directorship cannot be transferred through a WILL". He concluded.
Reacting to the claims by Chukwuemeka Ojukwu Jnr, Barr. Onyemelukwe said that, the WILL was registered in the Enugu High Court on 9th July, 2005, while the codicil, which was to give details and corrections in the WILL, was dated 16th Dec, 2009. He went further to tender legal documents at a press conference which held in Enugu, to back up his argument. He further stated that, he had been close to the late Ojukwu since his return from exile in 1982. He said all Ojukwu's legal papers were still with him, including the properties willed to Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, who claimed not knowing him as his father's lawyer and friend. *The drama hasn't ended yet, but I pray they sort it out privately*.
